Well-Child Visits With a Family Care Specialist

At Pediatric Care+, our providers want to provide you and your child the best care possible.  Our physicians and nurse practitioners follow the well-child/preventative schedule recommended by Bright Futures and lead by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).  The AAP, founded in 1930, is a national organization of pediatricians committed to optimizing the health of all infants, children, adolescents and young adults.

Pediatric Care+ values you and your child. To provide the best care possible we strive for continuity of care. Continuity of care allows you to have a stable, cooperative relationship with your medical team. This promotes ongoing health management, which is a hallmark for exceptional healthcare.

For optimal health, children should receive routine well-child visits with their pediatrician. At Pediatric Care+, a well-child/preventative visit includes developmental observations, a physical exam, recommended screenings, immunizations, and anticipatory guidance.

Infant Well-Child/Preventative Care Schedule

A visit to your pediatrician or Family Nurse Practitioner before your infant is born is important for first-time parents, high-risk pregnancies, and any other parent who wishes to discuss common concerns, such as breast and/or bottle feeding or circumcision.

After your infant is born and discharged from the hospital, the first visit with your pediatrician should be when your infant is 3-4 days old.

Ages for Visits

Visits should occur at the following ages:

  • 3-4 days old and/or 2 weeks
  • By 1 month (experienced parents may wait until 2 months)
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months (1 year)
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • 30 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • 6 years
  • 8 years
  • 10 years
  • Each year after that until age 21

Recommendations for preventative medicine are intended for healthy individuals without indicators of health problems, who have capable caregivers, and are growing and developing within the normal limits. Additional visits may be necessary if a patient has developmental, psychosocial or chronic disease concerns.

Same Day Scheduling

We are usually able to schedule 4–6 months in advance.  During the first 2 years of your child’s life, you may feel like you are going to the doctor all the time. At Pediatric Care+ we try to make scheduling your child’s appointment easy and convenient. You can schedule visits when you are at the office or with a phone call (801-377-8000).  We also reserve times in the schedule for same day appointments.
